Liverpool fans were left extremely impressed with Harvey Elliott following his debut performance against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.

The 16-year-old joined the Reds from Fulham in the summer transfer window, but has been made to wait to make his first appearance for his new club.

Along with several other youngsters he was handed his chance at Stadium MK and it is fair to say that he grasped it with both hands.

The attack-minded midfielder produced an assured display for the Merseyside club. He made three key passes and three accurate long balls, completed four dribbles, took four shots at goal – including two off the crossbar – and finished the night with an 87.3% passing accuracy (via WhoScored).

Elliott certainly has a lot of potential, indeed he has already become the youngest player to play in the Premier League after appearing for Fulham last term.

He is now the youngest player to start a competitive game for Liverpool and after the game his manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the teenager.

“Sixteen years old still and this kind of footballer, it is good for us,” said Klopp (via Daily Mail).

“(He is) a brilliant boy, takes the situation really well, wants to learn and he will always be a special player in moments but his overall game is really, really good. He was a bit unlucky otherwise he would have scored, he is a good player but they are all good.”

The German was not the only one left gushing over the youngster’s performance either, with several Liverpool supporters taking to social media to praise Elliott, including one supporter who even labelled him as the potential heir to Philippe Coutinho who made over 200 appearances before moving to Barcelona last year.

وتحدث الإسباني في بداية حواره مع صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية عن قدرته على العودة إلى الليجا قبل الانتقال إلى ليفربول، وقال: “نعم، كانت لدي بعض العروض، لكن الأمر كان واضحًا بالنسبة لي”.

وتابع: “كان رحيلي عن بايرن ميونخ مرتبط بقدرتي على خوض تجربة جديدة في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، بطولة كبيرة تحظى بمنافسة قوية بين الأندية”.

وأضاف: “عندما تلقيت مكالمة كلوب والنادي، كان قرارًا سهلًا للغاية رغم صعوبة الرحيل عن بايرن ميونخ، ولكن في النهاية، سعيد بالقرار وتواجدي في ليفربول”.

ووجهت الصحيفة سؤالًا صعبًا للإسباني “هل كنت ستنتقل إلى ريال مدريد خلال السنوات الماضية عندما كنت مع بايرن ميونخ؟”، ورد: “تحدثنا منذ سنوات، لا أتذكر ما حدث وقتها لأنني كنت قد وقعت لنادٍ جديد في عام 2013”.

وعن كيفية التأقلم مع أسلوب كلوب في ليفربول خاصة وأنه يختلف عن فلسفة برشلونة “تيكي تاكا”، قال: “في النهاية، ما نريده كلاعبين هو اللعب بأسلوب يمكنك من الفوز، لقد كنت محظوظًا كثيرًا بأنني لعبت لفريقين مثل برشلونة وبايرن ميونخ لهما أسلوب متشابه، والآن مع ليفربول الذي يمتلك جينات الفوز ويمتلك طريقة مختلفة عن فريقي السابقين في الإعداد للمباريات”.

West Brom’s nine-game run without defeat came to an end at the hands of Leeds on Tuesday evening.

By this point, everyone knows who Barcelona’s 16-year-old prodigy is and how he has shattered multiple long-standing records in the first couple of outings he has had with the Catalan giants.

And the stars seem to be fully aligned for Fati to actually participate in the clash, at the very least.

Recently, he wasn’t called up for Spain’s U17 squad, which means he will be available for Ernesto Valverde to pick if he so chooses.

But with Dembele potentially out of the picture due to that aforementioned suspension, Fati getting that call seems more than just likely and we’ve seen already that the coach is not afraid to throw the youngster into the fire when necessary.

He has, thus far, made five La Liga appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist.

And Fati himself seems ready to take on another challenge.

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is going to have to wait even longer for his return to action after the club announced he has had yet another setback on his injury.

What’s the word, then?

The Ivory Coast international looks set to miss another three months and his absence will just add to the woes the fans are currently enduring, with the Toffees inside the relegation zone on just seven points from eight games. Elsewhere, Marco Silva was reportedly handed the next three matches to save his job by Farhad Moshiri, and injuries as such will only make this task harder for the former Watford man.

The reports from the club stated that Gbamin had surgery on his right quadriceps muscle, which has kept him out of action since August. The 24-year-old returned to light training this month but had to have surgery after a setback in his rehabilitation process.

Everton have said that the midfielder will now be out until 2020, having already missed all of the Blues’ last eight games, having initially injured himself in training prior to the Aston Villa clash.

Before the 24-year-old endured this torrid luck, he did play in Everton’s first two games, coming off the bench against Crystal Palace in the opening match. However, it was against Watford where he proved his worth, earning a 7/10 rating in the 1-0 win.

Schneiderlin to get more chances?

The injury will also mean that Morgan Schneiderlin – who continues to be a hugely unpopular player among the Goodison Park faithful having been criticised time and time again this term – could continue to occupy the centre-midfield role, which may cause more problems.

The 5 foot 11 man has struggled throughout the season, averaging a rating of 6.07 this Premier League campaign and has registered 4/10, 5/10 and 4/10 ratings in his past three outings.

The Frenchman has played six times in the league for Everton this campaign and has averaged an alarming 0.3 key passes per game and just 0.3 shots per game as well.

As shown in the games recorded by Transfermarkt, the former Manchester United man has been used as a defensive midfielder throughout this season. Although, considering the Toffees have conceded 13 league goals – the joint-fifth highest in the Premier League – questions have to be asked about what he is bringing to that role.

Unfortunately, Everton fans have not been able to witness Gbamin enough after all of these injuries, and now it is going to be even longer until Silva can deploy his summer signing on a regular basis. To make matters worse, it could mean more minutes for Schneiderlin, amidst his dreadful form.
