What’s the word?

According to renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are still negotiating to sign the Bologna defender, though no agreement over the fee has been agreed with the Serie A outfit.

Speaking on the ‘Last Word On Spurs’ YouTube channel, he said:

“They are still in talks with the agent of the player, but there is still no agreement with Bologna. The deal is not off yet.”

Earlier this month, the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath claimed that the Italian side were wanting €25m (£21.5m) but the two clubs have been negotiating, with the 22-year-old seen as both a right-back and a central defensive option for Nuno Santo.

Bye-bye Aurier

The arrival of Tomiyasu would surely spell the end for Serge Aurier’s time in North London. The 28-year-old is believed to be on the transfer list, according to The Athletic, who claim Spurs have told the right-back that they would like to move him on this window.

Back in May, Aurier himself hinted that his future may lie elsewhere.

“Everyone knows that if I wanted to extend my contract at Tottenham, I’d have already done so,” he told L’Equipe. “I’m not going to do that in six months’ time. I’ve experienced the Premier League and a Champions League final. I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’s time to look elsewhere.”

Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici can move on from the former Paris Saint-Germain star with a move for Tomiyasu, who appears to be the perfect fit for Nuno’s system.

That’s because he is a defensively-minded right-back, who can slot into the backline to make it a three-man defence, which allows Sergio Reguilon to bomb on as a very attacking left wing-back, with Heung-min Son acting as an inside forward or Harry Kane’s frontline partner.

The £18m-rated Japan international, who featured at the Tokyo Olympics this summer, has been described as a “true warrior” by fellow Bologna defender Mitchell Dijks.

Indeed, an average of 1.5 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 2.9 aerial battles won per game, via WhoScored, suggests that he’s an animal defensively and could potentially be a more reliable option than Aurier, who has frequently been dubbed a “liability” throughout his time in England.

The Ivorian averaged only one interception and 1.9 aerial duels won per match in the Premier League last season and even committed 1.2 fouls each outing, too.

It’s also telling that Nuno has preferred his former Wolves ace, Matt Doherty, throughout pre-season, so it’s clear that Aurier is very much an unwanted man.

As such, the Portuguese could very much do with signing Tomiyasu and as negotiations continue, Paratici and co must ensure they come to an agreement over the transfer fee as a top priority.

The code [given to each player during testing] is with the WADA, who will need to match it and give us the name after wich the IPL’s medical team will take over”, Shetty said.Last week, IDTM, a Sweden-based independent agency, attested by the WADA, carried out tests on samples it had collected during random testing during the IPL at the WADA-approved laboratory in Switzerland. There are 11 Pakistan players in the IPL, including captain Shoaib Malik, vice-captain Misbah-ul-Haq, and Sohail Tanvir, one of the key players in Rajasthan Royals’ triumph in the inaugural season.”We don’t see any confrontation with the players over the clash of dates, the IPL is a domestic tournament,” Shafqat Naghmi, the Pakistan board’s chief operating officer, told . “International commitments take precedence over the domestic tournaments and the IPL is no exception.”Naghmi’s comments come a few days after Sri Lanka Cricket allowed its key players to feature in next year’s IPL despite a clash with proposed dates of the tour to England. SLC’s decision even prompted Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, to hint at the need for an IPL window in the international calendar.”We will work strictly under a principle that has been decided at the ICC level,” Naghmi said. “Obviously the home series against Australia is very important for us and nothing will take precedence over it.”Australia postponed their tour to Pakistan in March this year after several bomb attacks in the wake of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in December 2007. Southampton have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of Joakim Maehle, with Forza Italian Football editor Conor Clancy claiming the full-back is up for sale at Atalanta, with Saints reportedly making an approach earlier this summer.

Maehle only joined the Serie A club from Belgian outfit Genk in January and went on to make 25 appearances as the Italians booked a place in the upcoming season’s Champions League.

However, it appears Atalanta are already looking to cash in on the 24-year-old after impressing at Euro 2020.

Despite featuring predominantly at right-back for Atalanta, Maehle shone on the left side of Denmark’s defence and showcased his attacking qualities by scoring two goals and adding an assist as he played every minute of his country’s run to the semi-finals of the competition.

Southampton have been long-term admirers of Maehle, according to Danish media outlet Ekstra Bladet. The report reveals Crystal Palace, Fiorentina, Sevilla and Valencia were also in the hunt for Maehle before Atalanta made their move.

But Clancy feels Saints could finally get their man before the transfer window closes.

He told Football FanCast: “Everyone at Atalanta is for sale. That’s just how they work every summer.

“Maehle is not a starter on the left or the right at Atalanta. He showed some flashes of the player we saw at Euro 2020 early on at Atalanta, but then it didn’t quite happen for him.

“If a club wants Maehle, they can sign him. Everyone who saw the Euros knows Southampton would be getting a very good player if they can sign him.”

وقال جاتوزو في تصريحاته لصحيفة “كوريري ديلا سيرا” الإيطالية: “عندما أتذكر ما حدث أشعر بالخجل.. لقد أخطأت في هذا الموقف”.

وأضاف: “إنه شيء فعلته وكان خطأ لا يمكن تبريره.. يمكنني أن أقول إن مثل هذه الأشياء تحدث على أرض الملعب، لكن هذا ليس مبررًا”.

وأكمل: “أشعر بالخجل، خاصة وأن لدي ابن يبلغ من العمر 14 عامًا. وفي كل مرة يسألني فيها عن تلك الصورة ولماذا فعلت ذلك، لا يمكنني إجابته، وأشعر بالخجل”.

واختتم: “يجب أن نكون قدوة للاعبين الصغار والأولاد الذين يتابعوننا”.
