An update has emerged on Joe Rothwell, regarding Rangers’ interest in his services.

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Rangers are weighing up a swoop for Blackburn midfielder Rothwell.

The report claims that he is out of contract at the end of the season and the Gers could snap him up on a pre-contract agreement in January.

Rangers chief Ross Wilson must secure a deal to sign Rothwell on a free transfer in the January window. The Gers have a key advantage over any English side wanting to sign him as they are able to agree a pre-contract with the player in January, whereas teams south of the border will have to wait until his contract expires to speak with him.

36-year-old Steven Davis has been a regular this season, with 13 appearances to his name, and Rothwell could be seen as a long-term replacement for the former Southampton man. Davis has averaged a SofaScore rating of 6.99 in the Premiership this term, winning 50% of his duels and making 2.3 interceptions and tackles per game.

Rothwell, who is ten years younger than the Gers man, has averaged a score of 6.90 in 11 Championship outings for Blackburn. He has won 54% of his duels and made 2.1 interceptions and tackles per game, suggesting that he has been performing to a similar level in comparison to Davis, albeit in different competitions.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray once hailed the midfielder and urged him to get closer to the opposition goal. He said:

“He’s an exciting talent, he’s exceedingly fast, he keeps the ball really tight. We want him running towards the opposition goal rather than across the pitch.”

The £4.1k-per-week beast could be signed without Rangers needing to spend a penny on him in terms of a transfer fee and he could represent a bargain for the club.

This is why Wilson must work hard to secure a deal for him in the upcoming transfer window, so that he could potentially replace the ageing Davis heading into the 2022/23 campaign.

Asked if she would consider coming back, she said: “I’m not going to say yes or no because I’m not really sure. I’d been thinking about it for a little while. But that’s okay, I still had a good time on tour.”Looking relaxed and content with her decision, she added: “I don’t want to go on playing just because I don’t think my heart will be in it just as much as the rest of the girls. Corinthians e Flamengo fizeram um ótimo Clássico das Multidões na tarde deste domingo. A Arena lotada teve estreia de Diego Alves, gol muito mal anulado, Jô virando artilheiro, golaço de voleio, recorde quebrado… No fim, o empate por 1 a 1 acabou sendo melhor para o líder Timão, que sofreu pressão do Rubro-Negro no segundo tempo.

Com o empate, o Corinthians quebrou uma marca que era justamente do Flamengo, de 2011, derrotado apenas na 17ª rodada. O Timão passa pelas 17 primeiras em 2017 sem perder no Brasileirão. Ao todo, o time está invicto há 32 jogos, na segunda maior sequência da história do clube, atrás das 37 partidas em 1957.

O atacante do Timão recebeu cruzamento de Maycon três metros atrás da linha da bola.

Não demorou muito para Jô balançar a rede novamente e igualar-se na artilharia do Brasileirão, com os mesmos dez gols que Lucca. No duelo que colocou frente a frente dois jogadores que estão na mira de Tite para a próxima convocação da Seleção Brasileira, o atacante recebeu linda bola de Balbuena e levou a melhor sobre Diego Alves, que fez sua estreia pelo Flamengo e demorou a pular na bola.

Após o gol, o Corinthians começou a fazer o jogo que mais gosta: ficou fechado, sem dar chances ao Flamengo, e tentou sair em contra-ataques. Nem a aproximação de Diego com Everton Ribeiro fez o Rubro-Negro ter chances claras.

No segundo tempo, porém, o cenário mudou, principalmente por conta das entradas de Willian Arão e depois Berrío. Cássio, outro que está no radar de Tite, salvou o Timão após cabeçada de Juan. Mas o goleiro do Timão nada pôde fazer aos 25 minutos: Réver aproveitou escorada de Juan e mandou de voleio.

O Flamengo mostrou que não se contentava com o empate em Itaquera e foi para cima do Corinthians. Era pressão pelo alto e por baixo. Diego perdeu chance inacreditável, Pedro Henrique cabeceou contra na trave, o Timão ainda respondeu com Jô parando em Diego Alves… Apesar de o gol não ter saído, foi um ótimo final de um grande jogo!

Watch out forThe biggest surprise out of the Centurion match was how dangerous Wayne Parnell can be with the new ball. His early swing and accuracy was the key reason Australia’s top order collapsed and he was named the Man of the Match in his second one-day international. As a left-armer he adds variety to an already dangerous South African attack and he has the potential to be a useful allrounder, although his batting is yet to be seen at international level.Another fresh face in this series is Callum Ferguson, who is only six matches into his ODI career but already is building a reputation as Australia’s middle-order stabiliser. He was the only one of the specialist batsmen to shine in Centurion, where his 50 saved Australia from an even more embarrassing result, and he performed a similar steadying role against New Zealand at the Gabba. Everton have been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Marcus Thuram as new manager Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his forward line.

What’s the story?

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, the Toffees are one of three sides interested in signing the highly-rated 24-year-old over the coming months, with Borussia Dortmund and Inter also listed as potential suitors.

With just two years remaining on his current contract, Thuram could be available for a reduced price next summer if Everton are prepared to wait that long.

Everton could finally replace Lukaku

After arriving on German shores back in 2019, Thuram has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young stars.

In his 40 appearances for Monchengladbach last season, the £25.2m-rated gem bagged 11 goals and provided a further 12 assists in all competitions, but his contributions didn’t stop there.

He also created four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of two shots and making 0.6 key passes per game.

These returns saw teammate Denis Zakaria brand Thuram a “phenomenal” talent and earned him a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.91, ranking him as Monchengladbach’s tenth-best performer in the top flight of German football.

The versatile striker also impressed during his brief appearance for France at Euro 2020, making one key pass, completing one dribble and winning one duel in the 3-3 draw with Switzerland, with his display earning a SofaScore match rating of 7.2.

His impressive performances for club and country led to Movistar commentator Alain Valnegri telling El Pais that Thuram reminded him of Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, saying: “He can be dominant and allow him to act as an offensive terminal, Lukaku style.”

A serious knee injury has limited Thuram to just 46 minutes of action in the current campaign, though, and he’s set to be sidelined until the new year, making a January move a potentially risky one.

Nevertheless, Everton’s hierarchy must sanction a move for the youngster, adding some much-needed strength in depth to Benitez’s attacking options and potentially finding their next Lukaku in the process.
