Hard-hitting lower-order batsman Andre Russell hastened the finish, crashing four boundaries in a rapid 19.Earlier in the day, David Bernard had Canada in trouble early, as the top three fell for single-figure scores. Captain Ashish Bagai stemmed the rot with a 64-ball 53, and he got some support from Usman Limbada and Sunil Dhaniram, before Odean Brown ran through the lower order. He finished with 4 for 33, as Canada folded for 148 in 41 overs.

وتابع: “كولر قد يستغنى في مباراة السوبر عن لاعب من خط الهجوم، والبدء بثلاثي في الوسط، ولكن إصابة ديانج قد تعيقه عن تحقيق ذلك، ومن الممكن أن يلعب بثنائي في الوسط ويعطي تعليمات دفاعية للجناحين”.

وأوضح: “المدرب السويسري لا يُغير في التشكيل، وأيمن أشرف يُعطي حرية لـ علي معلول، والظهير التونسي وأحمد فتوح هما أبرز مفاتيح لعب الأهلي والزمالك في مباراة السوبر”.

وشدد نجم الأهلي السابق: “أحذر مارسيل كولر من الاستعجال للفوز بكأس السوبر، لأن فيريرا يعتمد في مخططه على التفاصيل الصغيرة”.

واختتم: “فيريرا لا يستطيع المخاطرة هجوميًا أمام الأهلي، وكولر قد يفاجئه باللعب بنفس طريقته من خلال التحفظ دفاعيًا، ومن وجهة نظري المهارات الفردية قد تحسم كفة المارد الأحمر على الأبيض، وأعتقد أن المباراة ستحسم بالكرات الثابتة”.

That’s according to a claim made by ExWHUemployee, who revealed in a recent post on The West Ham Way that Rob Newman and the Hammers’ transfer team are set to meet with Olympique de Marseille to discuss a deal for the centre-back.

The Irons insider goes on to state that David Moyes’ side are hoping to land the 25-year-old on a loan deal that includes an option to buy, while the Ligue 1 club are only prepared to part with the defender on a permanent basis – with a fee of £15m being widely reported as the Croatia international’s asking price.

Regarding West Ham’s interest in Caleta-Car, Ex said: “We believe talks will happen with Marseille for Caleta-Car to see if a compromise can be reached on the deal. We would like to initially loan [the defender], as he is unproven in England, but Marseille do not. It will be interesting to see how this develops.”

Indeed, over his 11 Ligue 1 outings this term, the £14.4m-rated defender has been in remarkable form for Les Phoceens, helping his side keep five clean sheets and scoring one goal, as well as making an average of 0.7 interceptions, 1.2 tackles, 1.9 clearances, 68.2 passes and winning 74% of his duels per game.

These returns have seen the £47k-per-week man average a SofaScore match rating of 7.15, ranking him as his club’s fourth-best performer in the French top flight.

As such, with both Craig Dawson and Issa Diop – particularly the latter – having done little to convince Moyes that they are capable of making the step up to becoming one of the 58-year-old’s bonafide starters in the absence of Ogbonna, it would indeed appear extremely wise for the club to do all they can to bring in Caleta-Car in the coming days – as the arrival of the centre-back would undoubtedly provide West Ham’s top-four hopes this season with a significant boost.

What’s the latest?

That’s according to the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, who revealed that a work permit for the Uruguay international isn’t likely to arrive in time for the 24-year-old to feature against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup fourth round.

He needed to be in the country to be granted a work permit in time and he didn’t arrive back from international duty until late on Thursday, meaning he hasn’t been able to train with his new squad and is unlikely to be involved on Saturday night.

Fellow signing Dejan Kulusevski arrived in the country on Sunday and played a part in Thursday’s training session.

Bitter blow

This will be a gutting blow to Conte as he surely would’ve loved to unleash his new star this evening, even more so given the lack of options now available at his disposal.

Bentancur cost an initial £15.9m from Juventus on deadline day and is expected to challenge for a spot in the starting XI from the minute he’s available.

The north London outfit sanctioned the loan departures of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, as well as the permanent exit of Dele Alli on the very same day, leaving the Italian with less than a handful of engine room choices.

In the Uruguayan, Conte is getting a solid box-to-box option who is capable of contributing at either end of the pitch.

Indeed, he has proven to be a durable and reliable option in Italy. No player at Juventus had managed more interceptions (73) and tackles (95) combined (168) than him since the start of the 2020/21 season.

Essex’s bowlers ensured they held a commanding advantage over Lancashire after two days of their County Championship Division One match at Old Trafford. The home side’s batting order has rarely looked steady this campaign and they struggled again as five of the six bowlers used by Essex captain Mark Pettini got amongst the wickets.The scorecard was at its worst when the lacklustre hosts were reduced to 101 for 7 at the end of the 37th over in reply to Essex’s first-innings total of 307. But at least a fourth County Championship half-century of the summer for Sajid Mahmood helped his side avoid the follow-on and reach 184 all out.Mahmood finished with 58, off as many balls, while Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was the pick of the visiting attack with 3 for 42 from 13.1 overs. Maurice Chambers and Ryan ten Doeschate had claimed two each of the first seven but Lancashire were hampered by a bout of sickness for regular opener Stephen Moore. The ex-Worcestershire batsman only came in at No. 6 and made just 3.Essex opener Billy Godleman was the 15th wicket to fall in the day when he was caught behind by Luke Sutton off the bowling of Kyle Hogg in the visiting side’s second innings.
