Mesmo com Luan de volta, a dupla de zaga titular deve ser formada mais uma vez por Antônio Carlos e Edu Dracena. Outra possível novidade no banco é a entrada de Nico Freire, defensor argentino que já está regularizado. O jogo começará às 16h, e é válido pela 14ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro.

O Atlético-MG já pensa nas peças que vai mandar a campo para substituir as ausências de Matheus Galdezani e Elias. Nesta quinta-feira, os jogadores foram suspensos de dois jogos pela 5ª Comissão Disciplinar do Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) pelos incidentes ocorridos na partida contra o Palmeiras, pela 14ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Além dos atletas, o presidente Sérgio Sette Câmara também foi punido com 40 dias e condenado a pagar multa de R$ 15 mil. A decisão cabe recurso.
Na partida, Matheus Galdezani foi expulso já nos acréscimos por xingar o árbitro Péricles Bassols. Como já ficou fora do confronto com o Paraná, resta apenas a partida contra o Internacional para o jogador se livrar da suspensão. Por outro lado, Elias, que foi punido por criticar a arbitragem brasileira e dizer que o Atlético-MG havia sido “assaltado” na partida, ficará fora dos jogos contra o Colorado e Santos, no dia 12.
Já o presidente do clube, Sérgio Sette Câmara foi suspenso por 40 dias e punido com multa de R$ 15 mil por ter publicado a seguinte declaração sobre a arbitragem da partida em questão no Twitter:
– Vagabundo, ladrão e mal intencionado! Essa #CBF é um lixo! Fora com essa “comissão de arbitragem” pelo bem do futebol brasileiro! – escreveu o mandatário.
Em entrevista concedida à Rádio Itatiaia após a decisão do STJD, o advogado do Atlético-MG, Lucas Ottoni, lamentou a decisão e garantiu que o clube já prepara recurso para anular a ou reduzir as punições previstas na decisão.
– Prejuízo grande. A comissão foi severa. A gente respeita, mas foi severa. Vamos chegar em Belo Horizonte e conversar com a comissão técnica, mas certamente vamos interpor recursos e tentar absolver ou minorar (reduzir) essas penas aplicadas. A minha sorte é que o nosso jogo é na segunda-feira, que se a gente joga no sábado ficaria em cima da hora para conseguir o efeito suspensivo. Vamos trabalhar de hoje para amanhã para poder interpor esse recurso e conseguir êxito.

South Africa will enter the last two days of the Boxing Day Test needing to achieve the highest successful fourth-innings chase to beat Sri Lanka in Durban, break a so-called jinx, and close out the series against Sri Lanka. It’s a tall order for a line-up that was shot out for 168 in their first innings, against an attack that many rated as incapable of 20 wickets in a Test match.With a task of this magnitude, South Africa can afford to be philosophical about what lies ahead. Gary Kirsten, the head coach, said one of the key things for them is simply to believe. “The one thing we do know is that it’s an opportunity for someone to do something special and be a hero for their country,” said Kirsten. “At the end of the day, we’ve got to dig ourselves out of this hole.”The hole was created by a poor first-innings effort with the bat, which showed a distinct lack of application by some of the side’s most senior players, such as AB de Villiers and Ashwell Prince. It was deepened by a lacklustre showing with the ball, in which the bowlers leaked 249 runs in the day, of which more than half came in the second session.Sri Lanka scored 142 runs between lunch and tea and lost just two wickets. It was in that passage of play that Kumar Sangakkara came into his own and marched to his first century in the country as though he owned the place. Kirsten admitted the bowlers lost their way.”We probably had a poor second session where we didn’t really stick to our plans,” he said. “We got a bit both sides of the wicket and we didn’t do a good holding job. You’d like one of your seamers to be able to bowl one side of the wicket. They are all talented and skilled enough to do that.”South Africa’s lack of a containing bowler has been lurking as a problem since they dropped Paul Harris for Pakistan-born legspinner Imran Tahir. It did not stand up as a real concern when they were shooting sides out, like Australia for 47 in November and Sri Lanka for 180 and 150 in the last Test. In those instances, the attack was under no real pressure to stop the run flow, as they were today in Durban. When they were, Vernon Philander, who brought what Graeme Smith has called a “degree of control”, had stepped in.With the prolific wicket-taker, Philander, out of the side because of a knee injury, South Africa have no-one to stem the tide. Jacques Kallis was unable to, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Tahir were too focused on taking wickets, and Marchant de Lange was trying to repeat his heroics of the first innings while finding his feet. Too many short balls were wasted, too many boundaries were allowed to be scored and Sri Lanka were given enough rope to run away.The lack of consistency in South Africa’s performances is now glaring and Kirsten said they are trying to find a way to string together more than one strong showing. “What we’ve been trying to focus on is how we stack up the days and how we play the sessions,” he said. “What is concerning for us all is that we can have two really good sessions and then have a blow out session. We need to focus on ways and means of stopping the bleeding.”There is little they can do to close the wound with the ball, so it will fall to the batsmen to do the repair job, something which seems fair, considering they are the chief cause of South Africa’s current position. “You are always chasing the game when you get bowled out for a score like that,” said Kirsten, adding a clean slate will be needed in the second knock. “We’ve got to look at it like a first innings, like you are setting up a total. All these guys are capable of getting big scores. It’s still a fairly good batting wicket. The pitch played pretty well today, which is a good sign for the rest of the Test match.”Although deterioration of the surface is expected, Kirsten has to think positively because South Africa have to find some inspiration and he may be the man to provide it. Twelve years ago, he did something special at this ground. Kirsten made a then-South African record score of 275 to save the third Test against England. The Proteas need an effort which mirrors that one to win this match. “It’s a great opportunity for someone to be a hero. These are the reasons why we play the game,” he said. “I am still quite excited by what can come out of this Test match.”

Ricky Ponting knew it was coming. Touch and rhythm had returned slowly to his hands and feet, and all he lacked was a score to prove it beyond doubt. Satisfyingly he achieved it in Sydney, with 134 runs that matched the innings of his pomp.While many had doubted Ponting’s capacity to return to such heights, particularly when he fell lbw three times in four Test innings in South Africa in November, the man himself said he had never felt the end was nigh. There had been much frustration, of course.”I wouldn’t be playing if I didn’t think I could do it,” Ponting said. “I think over the last few weeks even, there’s been enough signs there to know and have faith in what I’ve been working on, to know that a big score was just around the corner. I actually told a few people that after last week in Melbourne I felt a big score was very close.”It’s hard to be frustrated when you’re getting out early, it is easier to be frustrated when you’re getting decent starts and not capitalising. Low scores are always going to be there in our game. Once you get to 40, 50, 60, that’s when the great players go on and make big scores and that’s what, for me over the last few weeks, has been the most frustrating thing. I’ve probably scored a few 50s in between my last hundred, but they’re the ones you get most frustrated about.”Ponting said he had needed to break his technique down and rebuild it in response to a slackening run of scores, pushing the boundaries of hardwork that had already been substantially stretched by his proud, fastidious character.”I’ve had to work exceptionally hard, harder than ever on certain technical aspects of my game, there’s no doubt about that,” he said. “I’ve been doing that for a little while now, I’ve been doing a couple of different things over the last couple of weeks, which are starting to pay dividends for me. The thing that is starting to come back is that real rhythm about my batting, and the feeling of being at ease at the crease.”When you’re going through a lean trot it is amazing how many little things creep into your head, and those little things can sometimes take over and get in the way of what you’re trying to do. So I’ve had a really clear mind this week, knowing what I’ve been working on is starting to come good for me, so it’s been a good couple of weeks for the team and today’s an extra special day for us.”It was extra special at least in part, because of the circumstances in which Ponting and Michael Clarke began their stand of 288. Australia had lost three quick wickets, the ball was swinging, and the SCG crowd murmured nervously about a team that had recently developed a habit of horridly low scores.”When Michael came to the crease last night it was a huge period in the game for us. We were three down in the game for not many and the momentum was starting to swing back in India’s favour after we’d had a very good day with the ball,” Ponting said. “The important thing for both of us was to make sure we played our natural games and we showed great intent.”Michael showed great intent from the moment he came to the crease and we both managed to score reasonably quickly last night, which just gave us a bit of momentum going to stumps, and we started the same way this morning. Our scoring rate in this innings has been very good and we’re taking the game forward all the time, which is the way we want to play our cricket. So at the moment we’re sitting in a strong position, thanks to some brilliant batting by the captain.”In the depths of a 33-innings drought between centuries, Ponting said he had been fuelled by pride, by not wanting to let his career fade to black without a rousing conclusion. But there had also been the team, which he no longer leads, but which he does not want to leave behind.”For me over the last few months there’s been a lot more pressure on me than I’ve never had at any stage of my career,” Ponting said. “But that’s just made me work harder. I’m a pretty proud person, and the last thing I wanted to do was to finish off my career the way it had been going the last few months. That’s why I’ve worked as hard as I had.”I wanted to give myself the best chance to play well and win games of cricket for Australia, and that’s the only reason I continue to play. There’s nothing else personally I’m trying to achieve, other than to help the Australian team win games, and get back up from No. 5 or wherever we were a few months ago, back up to the top of the tree where we deserve to be.”Confidence in our game is an amazing thing and spending time in the middle is what every batsman needs to do when they’re going through a lean trot. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been able to spend a bit of time in the middle, and after the innings today I can have a bit more confidence about my game than I’ve had for a long time now.”

وكان رونالدو قد رحل عن مانشستر يونايتد، في وقت سابق من شهر نوفمبر الماضي عقب فسخ عقده مع النادي، بالتراضي بين الطرفين.
وجاء رحيل رونالدو عن الشياطين الحمر بعد مقابلة نارية أجراها مع الإعلامي بيرس مورجان، حيث شن من خلالها هجومًا ضاريًا على إدارة مانشستر يونايتد ولاعبيه القدامى والمدرب إريك تين هاج.
ورحل رونالدو بعد ذلك إلى صفوف النصر السعودي، في حين تمكن مانشستر يونايتد من المضي قدمًا بدونه، وأصبح الفريق الإنجليزي الوحيد الذي ينافس في 4 بطولات، وهي الدوري الإنجليزي، الدوري الأوروبي، كأس رابطة الأندية الإنجليزية وكأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.
