O atleta foi vendido ao Real Madrid em junho do ano passado, por R$ 193 milhões. O Santos teve direito a R$ 172 milhões à época.

Twenty-three years since he took part in the failed 1992 campaign, Craig McDermott will mentor Australia’s fast bowlers at the 2015 World Cup after re-signing with Cricket Australia as assistant coach with the national team for two years.Recognising the success of the Test bowling battery against England and South Africa, CA have upgraded McDermott’s contract and increased his remit to cover major tours across all formats, rather than the Test-only position he took up at the start of the 2013-14 Ashes summer. He will now be the right hand man of the coach Darren Lehmann.”I’ve already had a couple of meetings with Darren mapping out the next two years,” McDermott told ESPNcricinfo. “Once we go to Dubai for Pakistan it’s pretty much full-on until the end of the 2015-16 season really.”After we get back from Dubai we’ve got the one-dayers at home to South Africa, and that’s pretty important leading not only into the Test series against India where we’d like to reverse the 4-0 the other way like we did previously in Australia, but also the tri-series with India and England and then the World Cup.”I feel like we’ve got a really good group at the moment. While all the guys are playing well, it’s really been great to build this close bond with them all – the boys call it the fast bowling cartel, but we also let Nathan Lyon in – and we’re all really motivated to keep that going. I’m also looking forward to taking on more responsibility and to work closely with Darren to broaden my coaching skills and alongside Michael Di Venuto to ensure we’re a well-oiled coaching unit.”Ali de Winter, who had replaced McDermott as pace bowling coach when he temporarily left the job in April 2012, had been commissioned to look after the bowlers in ODI and Twenty20 matches, but will now work alongside McDermott, mainly at the National Cricket Centre while touring occasionally.”Craig has built a really strong rapport with the bowling group,” the team performance manager Pat Howard said. “Combine that with the international experience and technical expertise that Craig brings and it has proved a successful combination in recent times and we’re keen to see that continue and for Craig to continue to grow and develop as a coach.”Craig will also do a bit more work with the limited overs players, along with Ali de Winter, as we head towards the World Cup early next year and will be closely connected to the work being done at the National Cricket Centre.”The prospect of working at the World Cup is something McDermott is particularly eager for, given his own unhappy experience of the 1992 campaign when Allan Border’s team did not reach the semi-finals in their attempt to defend the title won in 1987. A pair of unexpected defeats at the hands of New Zealand and South Africa meant the hosts were always chasing from behind.”We got beaten by New Zealand in that first game, I can remember we then had a barbecue at Steve Waugh’s house and the talk was all ‘oh we’ll just win the next one’,” McDermott said. “But we didn’t win the next one and were playing catch-up all through the tournament. It was disappointing because we’d all wanted to win a World Cup in our home country.”New Zealand opening the bowling with spin was a shock to everyone, the wicket was low, slow and the New Zealand attack really suited that with guys like Dipak Patel and Chris Harris. That first loss was a major psychological issue for us – we expected to beat New Zealand because at that stage we were always beating them, so that took a while to recover from. Then South Africa beat us as well in Sydney, and we never really recovered from those two games.”Hopefully our boys can do it this time, we’ve got a good one-day side, we’re ranked up the top, we’ve just got to make sure that we stay there.”Central to the 2015 campaign will be the pace and aggression of Mitchell Johnson, currently turning out in the IPL following the twin peaks of an Ashes sweep then a stirring 2-1 defeat of South Africa away from home. Though Johnson claimed a staggering 59 wickets from those eight Tests, McDermott said there was still room for improvement.”I don’t think Mitchell bowled as well in South Africa as he did in Australia,” he said. “It was always going to be hard to improve on what he did against England … if I wanted to work on something with Mitchell it would be to make sure we get his swing back that he had in Australia. He didn’t quite get the same shape he had in Australia, so that’s something he has to work on going forward.”His aggression and pace and everything else was exceptional in South Africa on two very docile wickets in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. He bowled well at Centurion, so we’ve just got to make sure he gets some rest and then we’ll see if he is selected for Zimbabwe or gets some extra time to groove some things to get ready for Dubai.”

The USA Cricket Association risks losing the booking at Lauderhill’s Central Broward Regional Park for its USACA National Championship until the deposit is paid, the director of the stadium has told ESPNcricinfo. USACA, which in its announcement on Monday confirmed the Florida facility as the venue for the event, has lost out on bookings in the past for not putting down a deposit at the facility and the possibility exists that it could happen again if another party who is willing to pay steps up.”I can send them an invoice and if they don’t pay any money towards that for August, they’re not going to get the stadium for August for their championships. We’re a business,” said Duncan Finch, Parks and Recreation Manager at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida. “Am I holding my breath that they’ll pay promptly for the national championships? They just requested the dates.”Finch said he first received contact from USACA on Thursday about stadium availability in anticipation of the city of Indianapolis’ announcement on Friday that they were terminating their hosting agreement for the championship. On Monday, USACA reached out only to request the dates but Finch revealed that USACA has already lost out on hosting dates for the traditional Auty Cup rivalry against Canada. Former USACA chief executive Darren Beazley had announced in December that this year’s matches would be held in Florida this October, but Finch said the stadium eventually chose to give the dates to another group after USACA refused to pay.”That was supposed to be in September,” Finch said. “It was going to be in October [16-19] but we didn’t have any time for it. Darren had talked to us about it last October and we held the date but we were waiting for a deposit and never received a deposit from USACA. So it is not scheduled here at the stadium. Darren had shifted it in agreement with Canada to September 11-14. We asked for a deposit for the last seven months now and we didn’t receive it. So it’s been canceled here at the stadium.”Finch also stated that the reason why the event is being held from Thursday, August 14 to Saturday, August 16 – as opposed to the four-day event from Thursday, August 21 to Sunday, August 24 in Indianapolis – is that the facility has been booked for use by a local soccer league for Sundays this summer. Finch says the facility has started to focus its efforts more on soccer due to the historic lack of cricket bookings.”We’re becoming a soccer stadium. The writing’s on the wall,” Finch said. “This year on my book for people that have paid, FC Barcelona Academy has rented 210 dates in the stadium starting with their summer camp in July. Other soccer activities, we’re up to about 30 other soccer dates.”According to Finch, there have only been two cricket events held at the stadium this year: the US Open T20 from December 5-8 and the American College Cricket championship from March 12-17. The last high profile, revenue-generating cricket event to be held at the stadium was in 2012 when the West Indies and New Zealand played a pair of T20s at the ground.The park was hoping to build off that successful event by having Pakistan and West Indies play a pair of T20s during Pakistan’s tour last summer. Instead, negotiations with USACA broke down and the two T20 matches for Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies were held in Jamaica. Finch says the Caribbean Premier League also showed interest to stage games there this summer but an agreement couldn’t be reached.”There were discussions about the CPL playing here and that fell apart,” Finch said. “We talked with the CPL in December and the next step was to get sanctioning from USACA and Cricket Holdings America and it fell apart.”

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has said James Anderson should be given a “stern punishment” if he is found guilty of having abused and pushed Ravindra Jadeja on the second day of the first Investec Test at Trent Bridge.”If anybody’s found guilty, and if I had a say in it, I believe he should be punished and punished harshly, that will stop it,” Boycott told ESPNcricinfo. “I think everybody [found guilty] deserves a stern punishment. I didn’t see any pushing and I could have easily missed it. If he’s found guilty of that, then there’s no excuse.”The alleged incident took place when the players left the field for lunch on the second day. There was reportedly a verbal altercation between Anderson and Jadeja that continued as they walked towards the dressing room. Jadeja was unbeaten on 24, and MS Dhoni on 81, and Anderson had bowled the last over before lunch. Anderson was charged under Level 3 of the ICC Code of Conduct after India team manager Sunil Dev lodged the complaint.”What is going on in cricket, verbals between players, and particularly bowlers trying to rile batsmen by flagging them off, I don’t like it,” Boycott said. “I’ve never agreed with it, I don’t think there’s a place for it in cricket. The modern player, in a lot of countries, accepts it as a norm as if they are growing up with it and everybody does it and everybody should do it. They believe it is not hurting cricket. Well, I believe it is. Jimmy [Anderson] is known to be one that talks to players. Now what he actually says I don’t know, I’m not near enough to hear it and I certainly can’t lip-read. But he is known to do a lot of talking. I don’t agree with it.”I’ve been against some of the great fast bowlers in the world, the great West Indians, they didn’t have to flag you off and make crude remarks. They just tried to bowl you out, they tried to knock you out sometimes but that’s part of the game. They never got involved – [Denniss] Lillee, [Jeff] Thomson. Thomson used to swear under his breath but he never swore at the batsman, he just swore at himself and made expletives when he got a thick edge and it went between slip and gully for four. He’d be annoyed and irritated but he wouldn’t swear at the batsman. Fred Trueman used to swear and make funny remarks and make you laugh.”Anderson scored a fighting 81 in England’s only innings and took four wickets in the match, including Jadeja’s in the second innings. He faces a ban of at least two Tests if he is found guilty because the minimum sanction for a Level 3 violation is four suspension points and two points equates to missing one Test. He faces a hearing that will take place within 14 days.

Mais precisamente, quando ambos defenderam a base do Palmeiras:

– Eu acompanho, sou um cara ativo na internet, nas redes sociais. Na TV também, quando tenho tempo. Na Turquia o calendário era maravilhoso, conseguia ficar com a minha esposa e os filhos, conseguia acompanhar. Por isso que sei bastante coisa. E tenho as amizades aqui, contato com o pessoal, com Léo Moura, com o Geromel. Eu joguei com o Geromel na base do Palmeiras, era o Pedrão. Hoje é Geromel. Eu era só David. Sempre estávamos em contato pelas redes sociais ou telefone.

-Sei do desafio que tenho, destes dois ídolos, mas já passei por isso em outras equipes. É outro desafio aqui, é trabalhando que vamos conquistar o espaço. Sabendo da concorrência boa, não só Geromel e Kannemann, mas Paulo Miranda e Rodrigues já mostraram que têm condições de ser titulares.
